The Barf Train

Well, I have to admit, I love it here but I am walking the tightrope. It's been 12 months without a good rest now and I think my body is starting to feel it as well as my brain. Having some very great sessions down here with some complete disasters. The bulk of the work was done before i left and i got through it well which was good but I think I am nearing the end of my rope for this season. Having some trouble backing up the days, hit it out well for a few then completely crash and need to sleep and sleep and sleep to recover. I feel totally physically ill today, like ralphing, the thought of anything but bland food makes me want to hurl......yesterday on the other hand was a big productive day and it was great....hard run, steady ride and biggest pool swim I have done in 5 months all with good results.....today, 4.5hr ride with 2.5 great and 2 complete hell.

Aside from that it is pretty bloody good here. I am being treated like royalty with Justin and Pip. Pip is an astounding cook and I don't think i have ever eaten this well over consecutive days before. My mom's name is Pip and she can't cook to save her life so i guess it has nothing to do with the name.

Ok, so I'm going to go throw up now and then try and get some fruit or something into me.

Chips feel like they might be the right thing too....actually, the thought of them makes me want to throw up as well. I need something salty and bland...there should be a good salt lick around here somewhere. In the mean time, I hope you all don't feel like puking.

Lennox Head

Well, this place just plane kicks ass. I arrived in Lennox Head yesterday afternoon after one of the longest trips I've ever been on. With layovers and flights i had been going for 35 hours door to door and was completely shattered. Luckily I am staying with two great people, Pip Taylor and Justin Drew. They live in the coolest little Aussie house real close to the ocean....incredible!

We ran along some trails beside the water this morning and it was spectacular, surf crashing in, thunderstorms on the horizon, just beautiful. I had some pretty major muscle cramping which was a strange new phenomenon for me and i think due to not enough electrolytes during travel...which i should have clued into on account of needing to pee about every hour on the plane.....lesson learned the hard way.

I am tired tonight and hanging on for a great dinner then a great sleep.....come to lennox head and we'll go surfing.

Posting comments

I took off the setting that allows only members to post comments, i didn't really know my way around this thing so post away, tell me i'm an idiot or tell me i'm really really really really good looking....whatever......visit a maple leaf lounge near you

Maple Leaf loung sweetness

This place is sweet sweet sweet.
After 2 of the hardest weeks i've had so far i am chillin and relaxin in the swanky maple leaf lounge en route to australia. monday tuesday i was completely smashed and felt quite sick . the run on sunday killed me a bit but got through it with a great group and nik southwell running shirtless in pouring rain and about 10 degrees.....we hit 25km at 3:30-3:35 pace and made it through...i am getting fit again and confidence is good, the last two weeks have been two of the toughest so far buy job done.

now i sit in the lounge on a 7 hour lay over and i don't want it to end...i've been printing and collating in the business area, sleeping and lounging in the quiet area, eating and drinking in the drinking area, they got everything here, scotch, whiskey, on tap beer, soup, salad, piles of cookies, i don't want to leave, it's awsome man just awsome. and i have carolyn murray to thank for that. i am going to bring her a bottle of scotch from this lounge, it may be have finished but better than nothing.

next up 3 weeks of training in lennox head, can't wait, one last push until i can chill at the end of this season. i am ready for a rest but still got a bit left in the tank.

later hosers.

Ha ha ha ha

Ever have those gong show rides? I had one today.....long set to get through 4*60mins so at 40mins into the second i flat, not too much worries except the spare i had was a 650cc....how the hell did that get in there? i haven't ridden 650cc wheels for 6 years....flat fixed with patches and onward......15mins later, flat again......no spares, screw the patches, ride a flat tire/rim for 4km to bike shop....only tire he has is a $60 conti.....$75 later, new tire and two new tubes....expensive ride.....feel like chucking my bike but still have 3 hours to ride with 2*60mins left and tired as hell, would rather go watch a movie......but continue because it's super important to run sunday on really tired legs.....6.5hrs turns into 8.5 because of bad luck and i'm an idiot.......workout done, chalk it up and have a good laugh after.......onward to new galaxies.....life is a gong show sometimes and the sentinal movie isn't that good.

The Vito Rule

PS.
Regardless of the vote, we can vito any decision....so there

Jude wants a Dog

Jude wants a dog.....I don't really want one...it's not that I don't love dogs and wouldn't love it and curl up on the couch with it to watch sunday football with a blanket and a hot cup of cocoa. It's just that I don't know if the current lifestyle would be fair on a dog...i'm away alot and jude works alot. So in the spirit of fun bloggin i am going to put it out there to anyone who reads this thing. Send in your answers for yes get a dog or no don't get one with your reasons.

We will use the talley of votes to make the decision....heck, getting a dog or not is what Tony Robins would call "win-win" and then he would flash you a toothy grin that would knock you flat on your butt.

If we don't get a dog, life is great, if we do get a dog, then I have someone to watch sunday football with and drink hot cocoa.

Jude wants a dog because:
Something to run with
Companionship
She has so much love to give and i am already full of love, we're like the carebears
Dogs are fun
Pets are fun
Good with kids (another story)

I don't because:
Lifestyle too hectic
I think Jude actually wants a baby...clock is ticking
I already have people to run with
I hate picking up what they leave behind.

What do you think?
And if we do get a dog.....Duck tolling retreiver or Newfie...and why?

Life is a highway

Whew,
Legs are smashed. Yesterday's ride was tough, back to the usual long rides wednesday and saturday. Yesterday was 6.5 on the pat bay hwy....my old friend....victoria riding is brilliant if you are on a road bike and want to climb and explore...not so brilliant for TT training...we have the highway...big shoulder which is a plus but the only real consistent flatter terrain so i do loops to keep the intensity up.....30km out to the ferries, 30km back into town.....for 4 hours. It actually goes by quickly the more you do it........tough set yesterday, one of those rides where you feel like you want to chew your arm off after.....

The NZ connection Alex and Olly are here to stay for a week so we went for dinner at spinakers, they have a good chocolate treats for after....go there some time, you won't be disapointed.

i have a bee in my bonnet.

Happy Fun Camp

So this week begins the last big push of the year. I've decided for sure to head to Australia for World Long course champs at the end of november.....it makes sense in a lot of ways...shorter than an Ironman so easier to do after IMC but long enough that i may not require mega speedy legs to do well.

Sometimes i declare "camp at home" to myself where I dedicate a two week block to really focusing at home.....not too many extra curricular activities like dodgeball or dungeons and dragons. Also a chance to winterise my TT bike to make sure i can ride in the ever looming victoria rain which is always such a nice treat.

Strange things are afoot at the circle K!

I am currently enjoying a delicious stuffed squash with rice and mushrooms which is delicious. My sweet love made it and she also finishes hard wood floors well too so there.
